Surya Nepal Western Open: Bhuvan Wins Third Consecutive Title

Pokhara: Bhuvan Nagarkoti claimed the title of the Surya Nepal Western Open, the fifth event under the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2025-26, at the par-69 Himalayan Golf Course on Friday.

Bhuvan carded an even-par 69 in the third and final round to post a 54-hole total of 3-under 204, securing a one-stroke victory over Sanjay Lama. The win marked his third consecutive title of the season and 14th career title. Along with the trophy, he received a cash prize of Rs 170,000. He had previously won the Surya Nepal NPGA Tour Championship in Bardibas and the Surya Nepal Kathmandu Open at RNGC.

Sanjay Lama finished second at 2-under 205, firing an impressive 4-under 65 in the final round to earn Rs 125,000. Amateur golfer Rahul Bishwakarma also carded 4-under 65 to secure third place at 1-under 206.

Sukra Bahadur Rai finished fourth overall and third among professionals with a total of 2-over 209, earning Rs 100,000, while Jayram Shrestha placed fifth among pros at 7-over 214, receiving Rs 82,000. Local pro Bhu Bahadur Gurung came sixth overall at 8-over 215, earning Rs 72,000.

Pros Dinesh Prajapati and Bhuwan Kumar Rokka shared seventh position at 10-over 217, earning Rs 65,000 each, while Toran Bikram Shahi finished ninth at 12-over 219, receiving Rs 51,000. Ramesh Adhikari and Suresh Tamang shared 10th place at 13-over 220, earning Rs 44,000 each.

Winner Bhuvan played steady golf, carding even-par 34 on the front nine with a birdie on the eighth hole against a bogey on the sixth, and even-par 35 on the back nine, with birdies on the 10th and 13th holes offset by bogeys on the 12th and 17th.

Sanjay Lama turned at 1-under 33 and surged on the back nine with 3-under 32, at one stage tying Bhuvan at 3-under before narrowly missing out on the title.

In the amateur section, Rahul Bishwakarma claimed the trophy with a commanding 22-stroke victory over Kishan Pariyar, who finished at 21-over 227.

The prizes were distributed by Keshav Pradhan, Deputy General Manager of Surya Nepal Pvt. Ltd., and Tashi Ghale, President of the Nepal Golf Association.

The 54-hole event featured 26 professional and 16 amateur golfers and carried a total prize purse of NPR 1,050,000, with cash prizes awarded to the top 18 professional finishers.

The 26th edition of the Surya Nepal Western Open will conclude with the Pro-Am event on Saturday.
