Gorkha: Home Minister Sudhan Gurung has faced criticism from constituents after telling frustrated voters to “take back their votes” if they expected immediate results just four months after the government was formed.
Gurung made the remarks during an interaction with residents of Shahid Lakhan Rural Municipality-9, Gorkha, on Sunday evening. He was responding to questions over campaign promises that voters said had yet to be reflected in the national budget.
Local residents questioned the minister about unfulfilled commitments and the allocation of development funds in their area. In response, Gurung argued that major systemic changes require time and cannot be achieved within a few months.
He said it was not practical to include every small local development project in the national budget handbook, adding that many development demands are being addressed through lists submitted by local governments.
The minister urged voters to assess his performance over his full five-year term, rather than expecting immediate transformation.
Gurung also told constituents that they could reject him in the next election if he failed to deliver on his commitments, effectively asking voters to judge his performance over the course of his mandate.
