Kathmandu: The Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has arranged for the sale of LPG cylinders at seven locations in the Kathmandu Valley today to ease the ongoing shortage of cooking gas and provide relief to consumers facing an urgent need.
According to the NOC, LPG cylinders of various brands will be available from 11 am to 5 pm at designated outlets coordinated with the District Administration Office, Kathmandu.
The designated locations are the NOC premises at Teku, Animal Service Branch in Chapali, Budhanilkantha, Radha Swami premises in Kirtipur, Naya Bazar Judo Hall, Tarakeshwor Municipality Office, Chandragiri Municipality Office, and the National Tuberculosis Centre in Thimi, Bhaktapur.
The concerned gas industries will supply the cylinders to consumers in coordination with the NOC and the District Administration Office.
At the NOC premises in Teku, consumers can purchase Nepal, HP, Everest/Sugam, Shriram and Sagar brands. Similarly, Nepal, HP and Bhanu brands will be available at the Animal Service Branch in Chapali, Budhanilkantha.
The Radha Swami premises in Kirtipur will distribute Nepal, HP, Everest/Sugam, Shrimaya, Shreekrishna and Sai Baba brands, while Naya Bazar Judo Hall will distribute Nepal, HP and Om brands.
Likewise, Nepal and HP brands will be available at the Tarakeshwor Municipality Office, while Lokpriya, Nepal, HP and Shrimaya brands will be available at the Chandragiri Municipality Office.
At the National Tuberculosis Centre in Thimi, consumers can purchase Nepal, HP, Surya, Sagar, Everest/Sugam and STC brands.
The NOC has said consumers seeking LPG from the designated outlets must bring their citizenship certificate or National Identity Card.
The corporation said LPG imports are continuing regularly and gas industries are also distributing cylinders through their respective dealers. It has urged consumers not to stockpile LPG unnecessarily and requested that only those facing an urgent need purchase cylinders from the designated outlets.
6,802 cylinders sold on Saturday
The NOC had also arranged direct LPG sales at five locations in the Kathmandu Valley on Saturday for consumers facing an urgent shortage.
The outlets included the NOC premises at Teku, Transport Office premises at Chabahil, Radha Swami premises in Kirtipur, Radha Swami premises in Basundhara, and the premises of the Old District Administration Office in Babarmahal.
According to the NOC, 6,802 LPG cylinders were sold directly to consumers at these locations on Saturday.
Some brands ran out during the distribution. Consumers who reached the designated outlets within the stipulated time but were unable to obtain their preferred brand will be given priority on Sunday through coupons, the NOC said.
