Kathmandu: The NADA Automobiles Association of Nepal (NADA) has been the voice of automobile entrepreneurs for decades. Through its relentless efforts, NADA has been playing a key role in guiding the development of Nepal’s automobile industry, influencing policy decisions, and ensuring smooth trade and business transactions in the industry.
Founded with the vision to take Nepal’s automotive industry to new levels and serve the development of the country, NADA has been at the forefront of advocacy. It has been a driving force in addressing issues concerning industry stakeholders and shaping policies for facilitating industry growth and sustainability.
At the same time, the recently established Nepal Automobile Importers and Manufacturers Association (NAIMA) has been a specialized platform for manufacturers and importers. NAIMA, with the vision of “Empowering Growth Through Mobility,” is committed to fostering sustainable, inclusive, and safe mobility through policy interventions at the strategic level.
NAIMA’s key objective is to advance Nepal’s auto ecosystem through the promotion of sustainable environmental practices, road safety and infrastructure development, and innovation. Besides industry development, NAIMA is dedicated to public awareness through consumer awareness and joint engagement with the government to effect positive change in the country’s mobility landscape.
Even though NADA and NAIMA are both principal stakeholders in the auto sector, both have a different mandate and field of operation that enables both of them to coexist. It is unavoidable that certain companies consider it fitting to be members of both associations. However, both organizations are firmly committed to their cause, coexisting in parallel with regard for one another and shared intention to help develop the industry as a whole.
Amidst recent news of the formation of NAIMA, there has been some confusion regarding NADA’s continued role. We seize this opportunity to clarify that both NAIMA and NADA believe in the strength of coexistence—recognizing that their distinct yet complementary efforts will ultimately yield more representation and a louder voice for Nepal’s automobile sector.
As the industry continues to move forward with an even stronger emphasis on sustainability, innovation, and policy coherence, NADA and NAIMA reaffirm their commitment to safeguarding the rights and interests of entrepreneurs, facilitating progressive policy making, and contributing to the overall development of Nepal’s automotive industry.
NAIMA will be inaugurated on April 16, 2025, where it will launch its strategic direction, priority areas, medium- to long-term strategies, and intervention programmes aimed at empowering sustainable and inclusive mobility for everyone.
