Kathmandu: Industry, Commerce, and Supplies Minister Gauri Kumari Yadav has urged a US government official here to facilitate the access of Nepali products to the US market.
Minister Yadav expressed this during a courtesy call on her by US Charge d’Affaires Scott Urbom today.
Stating that the term of Nepal Trade Preference Program, which started in 2015, has come to an end in December 2025, the Industry Minister requested the US official that the Program term be extended again for Nepali products.
Minister Yadav emphasized that the mechanism under the ‘Trade and Investment Framework Agreement’ between the two countries should be activated through regular dialogue to promote bilateral trade and investment.
She shared with the US Charge d’Affaires that through policy and legal reforms, an investment-friendly environment has been strengthened in Nepal, and the government is eager to attract more American investment.
Minister Yadav has requested for more American investment in areas like hydropower and renewable energy, tourism infrastructure, agricultural processing, productive industries, and the digital economy, her secretariat said.
At the meeting, the US Charge d’Affaires Scott said that the US is positive about continuing trade concessions and promoting investment.
