TikTok Strengthens AI Transparency and Safety Measures to Tackle AI-Generated Content

Kathmandu: TikTok has announced new measures to strengthen transparency, safety and awareness around artificial intelligence (AI)-generated content, including expanded AI education resources, improved spam detection systems and greater collaboration with industry partners.

The initiatives aim to help users identify and understand AI-generated content, promote responsible use of AI tools and protect authentic creators from misleading or spam-related activities.

As part of the measures announced on October 15, TikTok is expanding its AI literacy programmes, testing enhanced detection systems targeting AI-generated spam and joining the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA) Steering Committee to support industry-wide content transparency.

New AI Learning Hub Available in Nepal

TikTok has introduced a new in-app AI Hub globally, including in Nepal, providing users with educational resources and practical guidance on identifying and responsibly using AI-generated content.

The AI Hub appears in search results when users search for AI-related terms, offering access to guides and information about AI tools, content identification and responsible engagement.

The company has also collaborated with the National Association for Media Literacy Education (NAMLE) and AI expert Henry Ajder to develop a guide promoting responsible AI use.

TikTok said it will continue supporting organizations creating AI literacy content. Since the programme began in November 2025, participating organizations, including NoFiltr and the Raspberry Pi Foundation, have generated more than 200 million views on educational content.

The company has committed over US$4 million to the initiative and plans to continue investing in AI education and awareness.

Enhanced Detection of AI-Generated Spam

TikTok is also testing improved detection systems designed to identify accounts primarily engaged in posting AI-generated spam, particularly on topics that could influence public trust or well-being.

According to the company, more than 86 million fake accounts were removed from the platform during the first three months of 2026.

TikTok said it has also labelled more than 3 billion videos as AI-generated content using Content Credentials, creator labelling tools and invisible watermarking technology.

By joining the C2PA Steering Committee, TikTok aims to strengthen collaboration with industry partners and encourage wider adoption of Content Credentials, which help provide information about the origin and authenticity of digital content.

Greater User Control and Responsible AI Use

Alongside safety measures, TikTok continues to develop AI-powered creative tools, including Smart Split and AI Outline, to support content creation.

The platform is also testing features such as Manage Topics, which would allow users to adjust how much AI-generated content they encounter.

TikTok said the latest initiatives reflect its broader commitment to promoting responsible AI innovation while strengthening safeguards, improving content transparency and giving users greater control over their experience.

Through AI literacy programmes, advanced detection technologies and industry collaboration, the company aims to create a safer and more transparent digital environment for its global community, including users in Nepal.
