Kathmandu: The Nepal government collected Rs 92.22 billion in revenue during the first month of the current fiscal year 2026/27, achieving 5.84 percent of its annual revenue target.
According to the daily budgetary details released by the Financial Comptroller General Office (FCGO), the government has set an annual revenue collection target of Rs 1.58 trillion for the current fiscal year.
Of the total revenue collected during the first month, Rs 85.19 billion came from tax revenue, representing 6.07 percent of the annual tax revenue target. Meanwhile, non-tax revenue stood at Rs 7.03 billion, equivalent to 3.97 percent of its annual target.
The government received only Rs 240.3 million in foreign grants during the first month against an annual target of Rs 61.74 billion. This represents just 0.39 percent of the projected foreign grant target.
Including other receipts, the government’s total receipts reached Rs 93.43 billion, equivalent to 5.69 percent of the annual target.
Government Spending at 1.97 Percent
On the expenditure side, the government spent Rs 41.88 billion in the first month of the fiscal year.
Against the total annual budget of Rs 2.12 trillion, the expenditure represents 1.97 percent of the total budget.
The figures indicate that both revenue collection and government spending remain in the early stages of implementation for the new fiscal year.
