Kathmandu: MG Motor has announced that its much-anticipated Cyber X will soon enter production as a compact, family-friendly electric SUV, building on the bold concept first unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show.
Premium Compact SUV with Distinctive Styling
The production-ready Cyber X combines angular, boxy styling with practical five-door usability, drawing subtle inspiration from premium SUVs such as the Mercedes EQB. According to David Allison, MG’s UK Head of Product and Planning, the Cyber X is envisioned as a “spiritual successor to the Suzuki Jimny,” balancing compact urban dimensions with subtle off-road character.
Modern Interior Design
Inside, the Cyber X retains its boxy proportions but introduces a minimalistic, modern, and practical cabin. Key highlights include a large central touchscreen, a fully digital instrument cluster, and spacious headroom and legroom designed for families. While concept features like the panoramic roof will be replaced with more practical touches, the interior maintains a premium yet accessible feel.
Advanced EV Technology
The Cyber X will integrate MG’s latest motor and battery technologies, including semi-solid-state batteries for improved range and safety. Expected driving range is approximately 300 miles, depending on configuration and conditions. Standard models will feature single-motor front-wheel drive, with all-wheel-drive variants available for higher trims. A raised ride height and subtle off-road cues give the SUV a balance of style and practicality.
Affordable Electric Mobility
MG aims to make the Cyber X one of the most affordable compact EV SUVs globally, with prices projected to start below £30,000. The model is positioned to attract urban buyers seeking an accessible, reliable, and stylish EV with family practicality.
