Aakar Foundation: Shaping the Path to Inclusion and Dignity

Kathmandu: Aakar Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering persons with disabilities, is organizing a special Art Exhibition on October 17–18, 2025, at Alliance Française de Kathmandu, Pulchowk, Lalitpur. The exhibition venue has been generously provided free of cost by Alliance Française de Kathmandu, supporting this meaningful initiative. The event will be free and open to all visitors.

Aakar Foundation believes that every individual deserves the right to live with dignity. Its programs are designed to create tangible opportunities for persons with disabilities to showcase their talents, achieve independence, and be fully included in society.

This year’s exhibition is being organized in partnership with MAW Group, Siddhartha Premier Insurance Limited, and Global IME Bank Limited, with long-term collaboration from AutismCare Nepal Society. Additionally, Aakar Foundation has partnered with Spinal Injury Sangh Nepal for a special art project featuring individuals with spinal cord injuries.

The primary objective of this exhibition is to raise awareness about the abilities of persons with disabilities and challenge the stereotypes often associated with them. By displaying their creativity in a public setting, Aakar Foundation aims to inspire society to look beyond disability and recognize true talent, skill, and potential. The exhibition also provides a platform for self-expression, fostering confidence and emphasizing that creativity and voice deserve equal visibility for everyone.

Furthermore, the exhibition serves as a bridge—connecting persons with disabilities to broader audiences, partners, and opportunities, paving the way for collaboration, growth, and inclusion. At the same time, it encourages empathy, understanding, and appreciation of diversity within the community—helping build a more inclusive and compassionate society.

Through its initiatives, Aakar Foundation focuses on market-ready skill development, income-generation opportunities, and platforms for artistic and creative expression across music, art, literature, and technology.

In just over two years, Aakar Foundation has conducted more than 20 art workshops, engaged over 80 persons with disabilities, and established over 10 institutional partnerships—each milestone reinforcing its vision of a future where persons with disabilities are recognized for their abilities and thrive personally and professionally.

Aakar Foundation remains steadfast in its mission to create spaces where potential is nurtured, dignity is restored, and inclusion becomes a lived reality. Its goal is clear — to financially and socially empower persons with disabilities through skills, opportunities, and platforms that help them live with independence and pride.
