Kathmandu: Yamaha Motor Company is preparing to introduce Nepal’s first hybrid motorcycle, marking another milestone in the legacy of the iconic Yamaha FZ Series while creating an entirely new segment in the country’s motorcycle market. The grand launch event is scheduled for March 20, 2026, at a venue rising approximately 256 feet, adding an element of exclusivity to the occasion.
For more than a decade, the Yamaha FZ has remained one of the most admired motorcycles in Nepal, known for its muscular design, refined performance, and dependable mileage. Built on Yamaha’s globally trusted engineering and strong Japanese DNA, the FZ series has consistently delivered a balanced combination of power, comfort, and efficiency, making it a preferred choice for riders nationwide.
With this upcoming hybrid model, Yamaha signals a new era in mobility; bringing hi-tech advanced hybrid technology into everyday motorcycling.
As Nepal’s roads and riding conditions evolve, the demand for smarter and more efficient mobility solutions has grown significantly. From steep uphill terrains and winding highways to dense urban traffic, riders require motorcycles that deliver responsive performance while maintaining strong fuel efficiency. Hybrid technology addresses these needs by combining a traditional fuel-powered engine with intelligent electric assistance, enabling smoother acceleration, improved mileage, and reduced emissions.
The upcoming hybrid motorcycle builds on Yamaha’s proven 149cc air-cooled, fuel-injected engine, now enhanced with smart hybrid assistance. Unlike conventional motorcycles, the hybrid system provides battery-assisted support during starting and acceleration, improving power delivery while optimizing fuel usage and enhancing riding smoothness; setting a new benchmark in the segment.
In addition to its hybrid advantage, the motorcycle continues Yamaha’s tradition of performance-driven engineering. It features a lightweight 135 kg body for improved agility, Monocross suspension for enhanced comfort, and refined power delivery suited for both city and highway riding.
The design reflects Yamaha’s bold street-lord styling with a focus on functionality. Key highlights include an integrated sidelight, LED headlamp with separate high and low beams, two-level seating for rider and pillion comfort, a midship muffler, and an engine under cowl that enhances both protection and sporty aesthetics.
Safety and convenience remain central to the design. The motorcycle is equipped with a front disc brake with single-channel Bosch ABS, a 220 mm rear disc brake, and a 140 mm wide radial rear tyre for improved grip and stability. An in-built side stand engine cut-off switch further enhances rider safety.
Modern features elevate the riding experience, including a negative LCD instrument cluster displaying essential riding information and E20 fuel compatibility, aligning with evolving environmental standards.
Backed by a strong nationwide presence, Yamaha ensures customer confidence and support through its extensive network of 100 dealerships, 95 service points, and 117 authorized service providers (ASPs) across Nepal, offering reliable after-sales service and easy access to genuine spare parts.
With the introduction of hybrid technology in the motorcycle segment, Yamaha is not just launching a new product; it is creating a new category in Nepal’s two-wheeler market, setting a new benchmark for performance, efficiency, and sustainable mobility.
The future of motorcycling in Nepal begins today.
