Kathmandu: Daraz Group has announced a leadership transition at Daraz Nepal, with current Managing Director Aanchal Kunwar stepping down from her role.
The company has appointed Ben Yi, Daraz Group’s Chief Commercial Officer and current Managing Director of Daraz Bangladesh, as the Acting Managing Director of Daraz Nepal, effective from July 1, 2026 (Asar 17, 2083).
According to the company, Ben Yi has been associated with the Alibaba Group since 2015 and brings extensive experience in digital commerce, cross-border trade, and platform operations.
As part of efforts to strengthen internal leadership, Daraz Nepal has also appointed Ratish Luitel as its new Chief Commercial Officer. Luitel has been with Daraz Nepal for seven years and currently serves as Finance Head for Daraz Nepal and Sri Lanka. With more than 15 years of experience in financial management and operations, he brings deep knowledge of the Nepali market and organizational operations.
Although stepping down as Managing Director, Aanchal Kunwar will continue to support the company as an advisor until December 31, 2026 (Poush 16, 2083) to ensure a smooth leadership transition.
Reflecting on her tenure, Kunwar said that her goal upon returning to Nepal was not only to grow a business but also to help build a stronger institution, capable leadership, and a more robust digital ecosystem for the country. She expressed pride in the achievements made during her leadership.
During her four-and-a-half-year tenure, Daraz Nepal recorded significant growth. The company more than doubled its business operations, expanded its customer base to over 3 million users, and increased its seller network to more than 24,000 merchants, of which 85 percent are small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Daraz currently serves customers in more than 140 locations across Nepal.
The company expressed its appreciation for Kunwar’s contribution and leadership, while reaffirming its long-term commitment to Nepal’s digital transformation through technology, innovation, and the increased use of artificial intelligence to empower consumers and businesses across the country.
