Kathmandu: Ncell Business, the enterprise solutions arm of Ncell, has announced that its state-of-the-art Integrated Data Centre (IDC) in Nakkhu, Lalitpur, has been awarded the internationally recognized ANSI/TIA-942-C Rated 3 (Tier III) Design & Constructed Facility Certification.
The certification underscores the data centre’s high standards of reliability, security, and operational quality. Ncell stated that the facility is also Nepal’s first government-certified data centre and cloud service provider.
The ANSI/TIA-942-C Rated 3 certification confirms that the Ncell Data Centre’s design meets globally recognized Tier III standards, ensuring a concurrently maintainable infrastructure with the availability, redundancy, and resilience required to support mission-critical operations.
Designed to maximize uptime, the facility can continue operating without interruption during planned maintenance activities or unexpected events. The infrastructure delivers approximately 99.982 percent availability through fully redundant power, cooling, and network systems.
The assessment and certification were conducted by Data Center Media LLP, an audit and certification organization authorized by the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA).
Commenting on the achievement, Michael Foley, Chief Executive Officer of Ncell, said: “This certification is a proud milestone for Ncell and for Nepal, as our data centre is the first in the country to receive this globally recognized TIA certification for design and constructed facility. We are committed to providing world-class digital infrastructure that gives local businesses the confidence to grow while also contributing to the government’s digital transformation aspirations. Customers across critical sectors can now rely on secure, always-available services hosted right here in Nepal, because reliability is essential for businesses that cannot afford downtime.”
In addition to the Tier III certification, the Ncell Data Centre aligns with international best practices in information security and privacy through ISO 27001 and ISO 27701 standards, strengthening governance, data protection, and risk management processes.
The company has also achieved ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications, demonstrating its commitment to delivering consistent, high-quality services while minimizing environmental impact.
According to Ncell, the certification further enhances its ability to serve key sectors including banks, insurance companies, government institutions, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and large enterprises. The infrastructure supports uninterrupted digital services, regulatory compliance, and mission-critical applications.
The company noted that the facility helps minimize downtime for critical systems such as banking transactions, enterprise resource planning (ERP) platforms, and online services, while simplifying audit and compliance requirements.
The Rated 3 design also strengthens business continuity and disaster recovery capabilities through built-in redundancy, robust backup systems, and minimal service disruption during maintenance activities or unforeseen incidents. This enables organizations to maintain operations during outages, cyber incidents, and natural disasters.
Ncell stated that the certification also contributes to Nepal’s broader digital transformation goals by enabling secure local hosting of critical data, strengthening data sovereignty, reducing dependence on foreign infrastructure, and supporting the country’s emergence as a regional digital hub.
With this achievement, Ncell Business continues to expand its role in providing secure, reliable, and world-class digital infrastructure services for businesses and institutions across Nepal.
