Kathmandu: The British International College, a subsidiary of the British Education Group and sister concern of The British College, in collaboration with Keele University, UK, has officially launched its prestigious BSc (Hons) Data Science programme at a grand ceremony held at Hotel Marriott, Kathmandu.
The event marked a milestone in Nepal’s academic and technological landscape, bringing together leaders from education, technology, business, government, and diplomacy, alongside academics and aspiring professionals.
The evening began with the ceremonial lighting of the Panas by Mr Upendra Kandel, Chairman of the British Education Group, and Mr Mahendra Raj Kandel, Executive Director of the British Education Group. The programme opened with an AI and data-themed dance performance, followed by a heartfelt welcome from Rose, TBC’s official AI robot, making her first public appearance.

In his address, Ambassador Fenn underscored the importance of educational collaboration, remarking:
“If we can build a bridge between Nepal and global capital markets, British investors would be the first across that bridge. This impressive programme convinces us that education is the foundation—the basic infrastructure of the bridge that will sustain this connection between Nepal and the UK.”
Echoing this, Mr Rajen Kandel, Group CEO of the British Education Group, highlighted:
“This programme is not only a new addition to the academic portfolio, but it also stands as a powerful example of what can be achieved when nations and institutes collaborate with a shared vision.”
Industry Collaboration
Mr Sajan Sharma, President of FinTech Alliance Nepal (FAN), emphasized the long-standing collaboration between FAN and TBC and expressed optimism for future partnerships.
A panel discussion on “Leveraging Data Analytics for Impact in Nepal”, hosted by FAN, explored strategies to implement data-driven solutions locally.
