Kathmandu: Premier International IB Continuum School transformed its campus into a vibrant hub of inquiry and intellectual exploration during Gyaan Mela 3.0, the school’s annual Theory of Knowledge (TOK) Exhibition, centered around a thought-provoking question: “How do we know what we know?”
The event brought together students, teachers, parents, and visitors in an immersive learning experience that highlighted the intersection of knowledge, culture, and critical thinking. This year’s edition embraced the theme of Nepal’s cultural diversity and rich heritage, with students arriving in traditional attire and the campus decorated with creative installations inspired by the Machhindranath Rath and Boudhanath, blending local identity with global philosophical inquiry.
At the core of the exhibition were 15 interactive student-led displays created by Diploma Programme Year 1 (DP1) students. Each exhibit explored real-world objects and ideas ranging from ancient manuscripts and Chhetri dolls to DNA screenshots and traditional dhunge dharas. Through these objects, students examined cultural heritage, local knowledge systems, and contemporary issues through an international perspective, encouraging visitors to reflect not only on what people know but also on how knowledge is formed and validated.
The event was inaugurated by Chief Guest Dyutiman Choudhary, who toured the exhibition, interacted with students, and appreciated the unique integration of academic inquiry with real-world experiences.
One of the exhibition’s standout features was the Knower Wall, which showcased students’ individual learning journeys within the Theory of Knowledge course. The installation provided visitors with a personal glimpse into how students develop their understanding of knowledge, perspectives, and critical thinking.
The event also featured an interactive online Knowledge Hunt, designed by a student, along with a TOK Information Centre supported by student-created audiovisual content. These elements helped parents, teachers, and first-time visitors gain a deeper understanding of the Theory of Knowledge curriculum and its role within the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme.
Theory of Knowledge is a core component of the IB Diploma Programme and encourages students to examine the nature of knowledge itself. As part of the course, students are required to connect academic concepts with real-world objects and experiences, developing and defending arguments about how knowledge is created, shared, and understood.
Gyaan Mela 2026 provided a platform for students to bring those concepts to life. Through thoughtful presentations and interactive discussions, students demonstrated their ability to analyze complex ideas, engage with diverse perspectives, and communicate their reasoning to a live audience.
The exhibition highlighted the value of inquiry-based learning and showcased how meaningful educational experiences can emerge when students are empowered to lead conversations, challenge assumptions, and explore knowledge beyond traditional classroom boundaries.
With Gyaan Mela 2026, Premier International IB Continuum School once again reinforced its commitment to fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and global-minded learning, demonstrating that when students are encouraged to question and explore, knowledge becomes a dynamic and transformative experience.
