Kathmandu: A sudden flash flood that struck Rasuwa District on Bhadra 10 damaged bridges and inundated homes, leaving families across the affected areas facing an uncertain path to recovery and, in many cases, an immediate shortage of basic necessities.
Responding to the situation, the Yamaha Blue Streaks motorcycle community turned its passion for riding into a meaningful humanitarian initiative, extending relief support to flood-affected communities in Rasuwa and Nuwakot.
To provide timely assistance, Blue Streaks members came together to raise funds within the community, collecting approximately NPR 93,000. In keeping with its commitment to transparency, the community publicly shared the donor list, with contributions received through both cash and online donations.
Using the funds raised, Blue Streaks members purchased and prepared essential relief supplies, including rice, lentils, bottled water and sanitary products such as sanitary pads. Members worked through heavy rainfall to pack and load the relief materials before transporting them to the affected areas in a motorcycle convoy, accompanied by a support vehicle carrying additional supplies.
Speaking about the initiative, Executive Director & CEO of MAW Rides Pvt. Ltd., Deepak Kumar Agrawal, said, “Our riders don’t just ride together, we give back together. From CSR activities across Nepal to moments like this, our motto has always been ride for pride. Blue Streaks will continue standing by society whenever we are needed.”
The relief materials were distributed at a holding center established at Shree Sundari Keurini Secondary School in Nuwakot, where Blue Streaks members met directly with flood-affected families, including elderly residents and children. Along with essential supplies, the members also offered encouragement and emotional support to those going through a difficult period.
As recovery efforts continue across the flood-affected areas, the Blue Streaks initiative highlights how a shared passion for riding can be transformed into meaningful community action, providing practical support and standing alongside families when they need it most.
