HoR Candidate List to Be Published Today; Withdrawal Process Opens Friday

Kathmandu: The Election Commission has announced that the list of candidates for the House of Representatives (HoR) election, scheduled for March 5, will be published today after 5:00 PM, following the completion of the complaint investigation process.

According to Kul Bahadur GC, Information Officer and Assistant Spokesperson of the Election Commission, the candidate verification process began at 3:00 PM on Wednesday and will conclude at 5:00 PM today.

At present, complaints against five candidates from four districts are under investigation. These include one candidate each from Sunsari Constituency–2, Rautahat–1, and Kailali–1, and two candidates from Bhaktapur Constituency–2. Investigations are being conducted by the respective District Election Offices.

Following the completion of investigations, the preliminary list of candidates will be published between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM today.

Candidates will be allowed to withdraw their nominations on Friday between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM.

The final list of candidates will be released on the same day between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM, while election symbols will be distributed from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

GC further informed that three major election-related programs are scheduled for Friday across 77 District Election Offices and 88 Election Officer Offices nationwide.

According to the Election Commission, a total of 3,487 candidates have been registered so far, including 3,089 men, 396 women, and one third-gender candidate.
