Nepal: TikTok has announced a new set of initiatives aimed at helping users better identify and understand AI-generated content on its platform, reinforcing its commitment to creating a safer and more transparent digital environment.
As generative AI continues to transform the way content is created and shared, TikTok is expanding its efforts to promote AI transparency through enhanced educational resources, improved spam detection systems, and deeper collaboration with industry partners.
While AI continues to unlock new possibilities for creativity and self-expression, TikTok is investing in tools, partnerships, and safety measures that enable users to confidently engage with AI-powered experiences while supporting authentic content and strengthening creator trust.
Helping Users Understand, Explore, and Create with AI
TikTok believes that education plays a key role in helping people make informed decisions about AI-generated content. To strengthen AI literacy, TikTok has partnered with the News & Media Literacy Alliance (NAMLE) and renowned deepfake researcher Henry Ajder to develop a practical guide that helps users understand AI technologies, identify AI-generated content, and use AI tools responsibly.
In the coming weeks, TikTok will launch an in-app AI literacy hub in Nepal, providing educational resources whenever users search for AI-related topics. The hub will offer practical guidance on recognizing AI-generated content and navigating AI-powered experiences with greater awareness and confidence.
“We believe people should have context, confidence, and control over their experiences with AI on TikTok. We continue to invest in technologies, partnerships, and educational resources that help people identify AI-generated content, understand how it is created, and use these tools creatively and responsibly,” said Tom Varghese, AI Lead for TikTok’s Global Public Policy team.
TikTok is also continuing to support trusted organizations working to promote AI literacy. Since launching the initiative in November 2025, partners including No Filtr and Raspberry Pi have created educational content that has collectively generated more than 200 million views.
TikTok has committed more than US$4 million to the program so far and plans to continue expanding its investment to reach more communities globally.
Strengthening Protection Against AI-Generated Spam
While generative AI offers exciting opportunities for storytelling and creative expression, it can also be misused to create large volumes of spam that affect authentic creators and user experiences.
TikTok has long maintained strict policies against spam and continues to remove such content at scale. During the first quarter of this year alone, the company removed more than 86 million fake accounts.
To address evolving risks, TikTok will soon begin testing enhanced detection systems designed to identify accounts primarily involved in posting AI-generated spam. The systems will focus particularly on areas where misleading content may impact public trust and well-being, including politics and current affairs, financial advice, and health-related information.
Highlighting Nepal’s Growing AI Creator Community
Across Nepal, creators are increasingly using AI tools to educate, entertain, and inspire audiences.
Creators such as Ashwin Neupane are helping users explore and understand AI tools through tutorials, demonstrations, and educational content. Similarly, platforms such as Techpana are showcasing how AI can enhance visual storytelling and create new opportunities for digital creativity on TikTok.
By presenting complex technologies through engaging and locally relevant content, Nepal’s AI-focused creators are helping more people understand how AI can be used responsibly to learn, create, and develop new ideas.
Advancing Industry Collaboration for Greater AI Transparency
As more creators adopt AI-powered tools, TikTok continues to strengthen technologies that help users recognize content that has been generated or significantly modified using AI.
Building on its position as the first video platform to implement C2PA Content Credentials, TikTok has now joined the C2PA Steering Committee to support the broader adoption of transparent AI content standards across the industry.
To date, TikTok has labeled more than 3 billion videos using a combination of Content Credentials, creator-applied labels, and its proprietary invisible watermarking technology, making it easier for users to identify AI-generated or AI-enhanced content.
Supporting the Positive Impact of AI
These initiatives are part of TikTok’s broader commitment to ensuring AI remains a tool for creativity, discovery, and positive digital experiences.
The company continues to invest in creative AI tools for its community, including Smart Split and AI Outline, along with features such as Manage Topics, which allows users to customize how much AI-generated content they encounter.
As AI technology continues to evolve, TikTok will continue investing in education, transparency, and innovation to help people create, discover, and engage with content safely and confidently.
