Kathmandu: The Rotary Club of Baneshwor successfully conducted a Community Health Camp in association with Kathmandu Medical College, Sinamangal, at Shivalaya Primary School, Shivapuri Rural Municipality, Nuwakot. Organized on 25th January 2026, the health camp benefited more than 350 participants from the local community.
The camp provided consultations and care in General Medicine, General Surgery, Pediatrics, Orthopedics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Dental, Eye, and ENT services. In addition, ECG, USG, and laboratory testing facilities were also made available. For many residents of Shivapuri Rural Municipality, where access to healthcare remains limited, the camp created an important opportunity to receive medical consultation and learn more about their health conditions.
Several pharmaceutical companies also extended their support by contributing medicines worth NPR 114,000, which were distributed free of cost to patients. This assistance helped reduce the financial burden that often prevents rural communities from accessing timely treatment. The visible relief among attendees after receiving medical support highlighted the significance of accessible healthcare services in underserved areas.
The response from the community was overwhelmingly positive. For many participants, it was their first opportunity to consult with specialist doctors, while others had postponed seeking medical attention for months or even years. The camp provided them with much-needed access to diagnosis, consultation, and treatment options. The strong participation reflected the urgent healthcare needs in regions like Shivapuri, where reaching the nearest hospital can often be difficult and expensive.
The Rotary Club of Baneshwor expressed its sincere gratitude to Kathmandu Medical College for its expertise and commitment, to the local government of Shivapuri Rural Municipality for facilitating the event, to Shivalaya Primary School for providing the venue, and to all pharmaceutical companies, Rotarians, and volunteers whose support made the program a success.
