Veel Announces Nepal Pilot to Empower Creator Economy

Kathmandu: Dileep Dhakal, Founder and CEO of Veel, a leading global platform for video marketing and creator collaborations, has announced plans to launch a pilot project in Nepal. The announcement was made during a panel discussion at Creator’s Mela, an initiative by the U.S. Embassy Nepal that brings creators together to exchange ideas, collaborate, and develop skills for the future of Nepal’s creator economy.

The upcoming pilot launch marks a significant step toward strengthening Nepal’s growing creator ecosystem by enabling brands and creators to connect, collaborate, and scale more effectively.

Dhakal was joined by Veronica Camacho, Demand Generation Specialist and UGC Creator from San Francisco, in a session focusing on the global evolution of the creator economy and its implications for emerging markets like Nepal. The discussion brought together creators, digital professionals, and industry stakeholders to examine how creators are increasingly becoming entrepreneurs while continuing to face challenges related to monetization, platform dependency, and brand collaboration.

The global creator economy is currently valued at over $250 billion, fueled by the rapid growth of short-form video, user-generated content (UGC), and increasing brand investment in creator-led marketing. In comparison, Nepal’s creator economy is still in its early stages, estimated to be worth approximately $30–$40 million. Recent data indicates that Nepali creators collectively generate more than $25 million annually, highlighting strong growth potential.

Speaking on the evolving creator landscape, Dhakal emphasized the importance of building sustainable and transparent collaboration platforms.

“The creator economy today is not just about content it is about livelihoods, trust, and scalable systems,” said Dhakal. “While creators globally are building full-time careers, many still struggle to grow consistently without proper tools and structured opportunities. At Veel, we aim to build ecosystems that support both creators and brands.”

Camacho shared insights from a creator’s perspective, noting that authentic storytelling and user-generated content are increasingly outperforming traditional polished advertising. However, she also highlighted operational challenges creators frequently face, including unclear work scopes, delayed payments, and lack of standardized collaboration processes.

The panel further explored key differences between the U.S. and Nepal creator markets, including market maturity, pitching culture, and brand expectations. Both speakers emphasized that while Nepal possesses strong creative potential, creators would benefit significantly from improved platform access, education, and exposure to global collaboration standards.

During the event, Dhakal officially confirmed that Veel will soon begin its Nepal pilot rollout. Already established as a trusted creator marketing platform in the United States, Veel aims to provide Nepali creators with new brand partnership opportunities while helping businesses leverage authentic, scalable video content.

“Nepal has immense creative talent,” Dhakal added. “Our pilot initiative will focus on helping creators monetize their skills while enabling brands to collaborate with verified creators more efficiently.”

The session concluded with practical guidance for creators, encouraging them to strengthen storytelling, communication, and professional collaboration skills to build sustainable income streams in the coming years.

Veel’s planned entry into Nepal marks an important milestone in aligning local creators with global industry standards, further strengthening Nepal’s position in the rapidly expanding digital creator economy.
