Kathmandu:Litmus Industries Limited, Nepal’s largest manufacturer of wires, cables, and conductors, has secured a major contract from the Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) to supply high-voltage transmission line conductors. PGCIL, India’s central transmission utility, operates the country’s interstate and cross-border power network. With this approval, Litmus Industries becomes the only Nepali manufacturer selected for the cross-border transmission project.

Under the contract, Litmus Industries will manufacture and supply 2,799 kilometers of 400 kV ACSR Moose Conductors. These conductors will be deployed in the Diding–Dhalkebar (Nepal) and Bathnaha (India) cross-border transmission line linked to the Arun-3 Hydropower Project, a 900 MW flagship energy project. This marks the first time that 400 kV ACSR Moose Conductors are being manufactured in Nepal, representing a significant technological and industrial milestone for the country.

Prior to awarding the contract, PGCIL conducted a comprehensive inspection of Litmus Industries’ manufacturing facilities. The evaluation assessed production processes, manufacturing capacity, quality control and testing systems, and overall factory infrastructure. Following a rigorous assessment, Litmus Industries was approved as the only Nepali manufacturer qualified to supply conductors for the project: a notable achievement for Nepal’s industrial sector.

The Dhalkebar–Bathnaha transmission line is a critical cross-border energy corridor supporting the Arun-3 Hydropower Project. The 900 MW development is expected to strengthen Nepal’s energy security, accelerate industrial growth, and expand electricity trade between Nepal and India.

Litmus Industries brings extensive experience in large-scale transmission infrastructure. The company previously supplied 3,600 kilometers of 400 kV ACSR Moose Conductors to the Nepal Electricity Authority for the Hetauda–Dhalkebar–Inaruwa Transmission Line Project, one of Nepal’s most important domestic transmission corridors.

This latest approval positions Litmus Industries as a trusted international supplier, highlighting the growing capabilities of Nepal’s manufacturing sector and underscoring the country’s increasing participation in regional energy infrastructure development.
