Dongfeng Tightens Grip on Premium EV Brand Voyah with Latest Share Purchase

Kathmandu: Dongfeng Motor has further strengthened its control over premium electric vehicle brand Voyah Automotive after a subsidiary increased its stake in the company through the secondary market.

According to Voyah, Dongfeng Motor (Hong Kong) International acquired approximately 20.19 million H shares, representing around 0.55 percent of Voyah’s total issued share capital.

Following the completion of the share purchase plan, Dongfeng Motor and its related entities now collectively hold approximately 70.02 percent ownership in Voyah Automotive, further consolidating the company’s strategic control over the premium EV brand.

The controlling shareholders currently own more than 2.438 billion domestic shares and approximately 138 million H shares in the company.

Originally unveiled by Dongfeng in late 2020 and officially established in 2021, Voyah primarily targets the premium EV segment priced between 200,000 yuan and 500,000 yuan.

In August 2025, Dongfeng announced plans for Voyah to debut on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange through a listing by introduction, while Dongfeng itself would undergo privatization and delisting.

A listing by introduction refers to the process of listing already-issued securities on the stock exchange without issuing new shares or raising additional capital, allowing existing shareholders to trade their holdings publicly.

Industry observers noted that Dongfeng had faced limitations in conducting equity refinancing following its own listing, reducing the financing utility of its H-share platform.

On March 19, 2026, Voyah officially listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange under stock code 07489.

The company also reported strong financial and operational growth. Voyah turned profitable in 2025, posting a net income of 1.02 billion yuan.

Its annual revenue increased significantly from 12.75 billion yuan in 2023 to 34.86 billion yuan in 2025, while vehicle sales surged from 50,285 units to 150,169 units during the same period.

In the first four months of 2026 alone, Voyah delivered 49,038 vehicles, representing a year-on-year growth of 36.02 percent.

The latest share acquisition highlights Dongfeng’s long-term confidence in Voyah’s growth potential as competition intensifies within the global premium EV market.
