Kathmandu: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index increased by 48.57 points, or 1.87 percent, to reach 2,633.62 points on Tuesday, the second trading day of the week.
The market recorded a significant rise in turnover, with shares worth Rs 8.291 billion traded during the session. A total of 20,387,413 shares of 347 companies were traded through 78,869 transactions. On Monday, turnover stood at Rs 4.68 billion.
Investor activity remained strong following the introduction of the Capital Market Strengthening and Revival Action Plan, 2026, by the Ministry of Finance. The plan included measures aimed at strengthening the capital market and reviving investor confidence.
Share prices of 265 companies increased on Tuesday, while 12 companies declined. The price of one company remained unchanged.
All 13 sub-indices closed higher during the session. The non-life insurance sub-index recorded the highest growth of 2.82 percent.
The finance, investment, life insurance and others sub-indices increased by more than 2 percent, while banking, development bank, hotel and tourism, hydropower and microfinance sub-indices rose by more than 1 percent.
Dhaulagiri Microfinance Financial Institution recorded the highest gain, with its share price increasing by 14.96 percent. Sindhu Bikash Bank rose by 11 percent, while Multipurpose Finance Company gained more than 9.5 percent.
Reliance Spinning Mills recorded the highest turnover, with shares worth Rs 327 million traded. Investor interest in the company increased following its announcement of a 30 percent cash dividend.
Similarly, Shivam Cements recorded turnover of more than Rs 315 million, while shares worth around Rs 285 million of Api Power Company were traded.
