Kathmandu: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index climbed 48.57 points, or 1.87 percent, on Tuesday, the second trading day of the week, to close at 2,633.62 points.
The market witnessed strong buying pressure as investor confidence improved following the introduction of the Capital Market Strengthening and Revival Action Plan, 2026, by Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle.
Trading activity also saw a notable increase. A total of 20,387,413 shares of 347 companies changed hands through 78,869 transactions, generating a total turnover of Rs 8.291 billion. The previous trading day had recorded turnover of around Rs 4.68 billion.
The buying momentum was reflected across the market, with share prices of 265 companies advancing, while only 12 companies declined. The price of one company remained unchanged.
All 13 sub-indices closed higher during the session. The non-life insurance sub-index posted the strongest gain, rising 2.82 percent. Finance, investment, life insurance and other sub-indices also advanced by more than 2 percent. Meanwhile, banking, development banks, hotels and tourism, hydropower and microfinance sub-indices gained more than 1 percent.
Among individual stocks, Dhaulagiri Microfinance Financial Institution recorded the highest gain, with its share price increasing 14.96 percent. Sindhu Bikash Bank rose by 11 percent, while Multipurpose Finance Company gained more than 9.5 percent.
In terms of turnover, Reliance Spinning Mills led the market, with shares worth approximately Rs 327 million traded. The company attracted increased investor attention following its announcement of a 30 percent cash dividend.
Likewise, Shivam Cements recorded turnover exceeding Rs 315 million, while approximately Rs 285 million worth of Api Power Company shares were traded during the session.
