Kathmandu: Dongfeng Motor Corporation has launched a new design center in Munich, marking a significant step in strengthening its global research and development network and expanding its presence in the European market.
The official launch ceremony took place on January 29, highlighting the Chinese automotive giant’s strategic move to align more closely with European customer preferences. The Munich facility will become part of Dongfeng’s integrated global platform, joining its existing design and R&D centers in Wuhan and Shanghai.
According to the company, the new studio will focus on projects for brands such as M-Hero and Voyah, developing vehicles tailored to European tastes and expectations. The center is expected to play a key role in shaping design, innovation, and customer-focused solutions for the region.
Dongfeng noted that Munich was selected due to its reputation as one of the world’s leading hubs for automotive design and engineering. The facility will utilize advanced technologies including cloud-based systems, virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR), and artificial intelligence (AI) tools to enhance collaboration and accelerate product development.
Beyond design, the Munich center will also contribute to global marketing and brand strategies, enabling faster adaptation of products to new markets.
This move is expected to strengthen Dongfeng Motor Corporation’s position in the premium automotive segment while reinforcing its commitment to global expansion. By developing M-Hero and Voyah models with European trends in mind, the company aims to enhance its competitiveness and growth prospects in the European Union market.
