Kathmandu: After thorough preparation, China Dongfeng Motor Industry Import & Export Company (DFMIEC) officially inaugurated its Peru office on September 6 in the Santiago de Surco district of Lima. The ceremony was attended by Yang Tao, Deputy General Manager of Dongfeng Automotive International Business Division and China Dongfeng Motor Industry Imp. & Exp. Company, along with Liu Xueming, General Manager of the Commercial Vehicle Overseas Marketing Department, and representatives from various commercial and passenger vehicle partners in Peru.
Before the launch, the Peru Regional Marketing Center team conducted extensive market research, interviewed customers to understand demand, analyzed market segments, and developed a detailed market development strategy. Dongfeng introduced high-end GX tractors, KC dump trucks, and KR cargo trucks representing the top level of Chinese commercial vehicles to meet Peru’s mainstream commercial vehicle needs. The company has officially registered in Peru and is expanding its local workforce. The establishment of the office marks Dongfeng’s deeper commitment to the South American market. Using Peru as a strategic hub, the overseas marketing team aims to expand into neighboring markets, ensure quicker service and response times, enhance customer value, and strengthen local brand recognition and promotion. This move is expected to become a significant milestone in Dongfeng’s South American development journey.
During the ceremony, commercial vehicle partner Zapata expressed confidence, saying, “The establishment of DFMIEC’s Peru office reflects Dongfeng’s commitment to the Peruvian market. We will do our best to help Dongfeng lead the market locally.” Another partner, Edilberto, added, “Now customers in Peru can experience the strength of Chinese brands firsthand, which will greatly increase their trust and recognition of the brand.”
Following the inauguration, Yang Tao, Liu Xueming, and the Peru Regional Marketing Center team held discussions with local partners on Dongfeng’s future development strategies. Yang Tao emphasized that Dongfeng would adopt a long-term approach, deepen its presence in the Peruvian market, and strengthen local operations to make Peru a benchmark market in South America within one to two years. The Peru office is planned to serve as the regional headquarters, supporting channel development, spare parts supply, training, and service capabilities.
In the afternoon, the team, along with local partners, visited the Peru subsidiary of China Minmetals Corporation, Las Bambas. Both sides held in-depth discussions on transportation equipment needs, new energy trends, local fleet operations, and community support projects, reaching initial cooperation agreements.
They also participated in the opening ceremony of the Dongfeng commercial vehicle flagship store of the Peruvian dealer San Bartolome in Lima. Discussions were held with EURO MOTOR Group’s Deputy General Manager Pancho on annual targets, after-sales service, spare parts support, dealer training, and financial cooperation. San Bartolome’s General Manager, Zapata, highlighted that the presence and quality of Chinese brands in Peru have significantly improved in recent years. He stated that Dongfeng’s commercial vehicles are becoming more reliable, with stronger local support, and the company will continue to work with Dongfeng to provide safe, dependable, and timely transport solutions to customers in Peru.
