Kathmandu: Nepal’s growing hip-hop movement is set to enter a new arena with the upcoming launch of “Hustle by NepHop,” a premium rap reality show that will bring Nepal’s hip-hop artists and culture to a national television platform.
Malin Media is bringing the Indian franchise of MTV Hustle to Nepal under the title “Hustle by NepHop.” The show is set to become one of the first dedicated national television platforms focused entirely on Nepal’s hip-hop genre, its artists and its culture.
Nepali hip-hop has steadily evolved over the years, moving from underground cyphers and independent releases to major concerts and mainstream music platforms. With young artists building substantial audiences and Nepali rap songs generating millions of online views, the genre has increasingly become an important part of the country’s contemporary music scene.
Against this backdrop, “Hustle by NepHop” will present a reality-based competition format centred on performance, mentorship, storytelling and raw talent, while incorporating Nepal’s own voices, experiences and cultural references.
The show aims to provide both established rappers and emerging artists with a national platform to showcase their creativity and connect with a wider audience. Through performances and competition, it will highlight the diversity and depth of talent within Nepal’s growing hip-hop community.
The arrival of a dedicated hip-hop reality show also reflects the genre’s expanding influence beyond Nepal. Nepali artists are increasingly reaching audiences outside the country, while digital platforms have helped rap music become one of the most followed genres among young audiences.
With “Hustle by NepHop,” Nepal’s hip-hop community is set to receive a larger platform to tell its stories, showcase its artists and further establish the genre within the country’s mainstream entertainment landscape.
