Nepali Doctor Wins Prestigious ACP Osler Cup Award in U.S. Medical Competition

Kathmandu: Dr. Rhea Bohra, a Nepali doctor based in the United States, has made history by becoming the first Nepali to contribute to a winning team at the prestigious Osler Cup Award 2025, hosted by the American College of Physicians (ACP) during its annual Doctor’s Dilemma competition.

Held in New Orleans, Louisiana, the high-stakes competition brought together 60 of the world’s top Internal Medicine (IM) residency teams from countries including India, Japan, Canada, Mexico, and the United States. Over the span of three days, participants were challenged on complex clinical reasoning, diagnostic acumen, and medical knowledge in a fast-paced quiz bowl format.

Dr. Bohra represented the American College of Massachusetts chapter and Saint Vincent Hospital, where she is currently completing her internal medicine residency. Her team’s performance stood out among the best and earned them the Osler Cup, the most coveted title in ACP’s Doctor’s Dilemma history.

A Landmark Achievement
This remarkable achievement not only brings pride to Dr. Bohra’s home institution but also shines a spotlight on Nepali talent in global medical academia. It is the first time in ACP history that a Nepali doctor has been on a winning team, setting a new benchmark for representation and excellence on an international stage.

Celebrating Excellence
“This is a proud moment for the Nepali medical community. Dr. Bohra’s success is a testament to the growing presence and impact of Nepali doctors in global healthcare and clinical education,” said a representative from the Nepali Medical Association.
