Nagoya: Pakistan has reaffirmed its commitment to host the 14th South Asian Games from April 3 to 11, 2027, with preparations for the regional sporting event underway.
The commitment was reiterated during a coordination committee meeting of South Asian Games member countries held in Nagoya on the sidelines of the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026.
The meeting was chaired by Jeevan Ram Shrestha, president of the Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC) and head of the South Asian Games Coordination Committee.
Muhammad Khalid Mahmood, Secretary General of the South Asian Olympic Council (SAOC) and the National Olympic Committee of Pakistan, briefed the committee on preparations and reaffirmed Pakistan’s plan to host the Games on schedule.
The meeting discussed key preparations, including the Games preparation timeline, sports entry deadlines and the Chef de Mission meeting.
Members of the committee also expressed their commitment to working together to ensure the timely and successful organization of the Games.
Shrestha emphasized the importance of holding the South Asian Games on their regular cycle and strengthening the regional event as an important pathway toward the Asian Games.
The committee also appreciated the National Olympic Committee of Pakistan for its ongoing preparations and efforts to host the 14th South Asian Games.
