Kathmandu: With the objective of nurturing students’ skills in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics, and Coding, Skillsup, in collaboration with Neema Education Foundation and STEMpedia, successfully organized the Codeavour 7.0 National Competition on Magh 26 at Anupam Foodland, Battisputali, Kathmandu.
The national-level competition witnessed participation from over 300 students aged between 7 and 18 years, representing more than 50 schools and colleges across Nepal. Participants showcased innovative technology-driven solutions aligned with the theme “Technology for a Healthy Future,” with approximately 100 projects displayed during the exhibition.
Three Competition Tracks Highlight Student Innovation
The competition was conducted across three major tracks designed to test students’ creativity, technical skills, and problem-solving capabilities.
Under the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Track, students presented AI and coding-based projects addressing real-world challenges aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Wellness Wave AI–Robo Challenge featured robots developed using Quarky kits, where students simulated real-life healthcare crisis responses, including vaccine delivery and patient rescue operations.
Similarly, the Robo Soccer League tested students’ engineering and programming skills through competitive football matches played using manually built robots, evaluating mechanical strength and wireless control precision.
Projects Focused on Health, Environment, and Safety
The exhibition featured a wide range of impactful and futuristic innovations, including smart wheelchairs, AI-based rainfall detection systems for urban areas, fire and gas detection and alert systems, flood monitoring technologies, underground water surface monitoring solutions, air quality monitoring and filtration systems, LoRa-based emergency response systems, smart greenhouse technologies, carbon capture and cascade systems, and sanitary pad dispensing machines.
Industry Leaders Emphasize Early Technology Education
Speaking at the event, Skillsup Chief Executive Officer Nishchal Pradhan stressed the importance of introducing emerging technologies at the school level. He stated, “This is the era of technology. Knowledge of AI and Robotics has become essential from an early stage. Codeavour is our initiative to connect children with technology and innovation from a young age.”
The event’s Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Sudan Jha, from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Kathmandu University, who was recognized among the Top 2% Scientists Worldwide in 2025 by Stanford University and Elsevier, highlighted the significance of nurturing young innovators. The program was also attended by Dr. Sameer Kharel, a Human-Centric AI Enthusiast, as Special Guest.
The competition was evaluated by an expert panel including Sugun Dhungana, CEO of Digital & Beyond; Garry de la Pomerai, Program Director at WEaRE; Deepak Pantha, Head of Computer Science at Nirmal Secondary School, Damauli; and Prabin Bohara from the National Innovation Center.
