Pokhara: Recognizing Pokhara as one of Nepal’s most important tourism destinations, Gorkha Brewery | Carlsberg Group led a clean environment initiative during the 27th Pokhara Street Festival, in collaboration with the Restaurant and Bar Association Nepal (REBAN) and Bhadrakali Waste Management Pvt. Ltd.
As a city celebrated for its natural beauty and tourism appeal, maintaining cleanliness is essential to preserving Pokhara’s identity and enhancing visitor experience. Large-scale public festivals generate significant waste, underscoring the need for sustainable and long-term waste management solutions to keep the city clean and welcoming.
As part of the initiative, Gorkha Brewery | Carlsberg Group donated dedicated waste bins for bottles and cans, recyclable waste, and dry waste, which were strategically placed throughout the Lakeside area where the festival was held. The initiative encouraged responsible waste disposal among visitors and businesses alike. Bhadrakali Waste Management Pvt. Ltd. ensured professional collection and environmentally responsible processing of the waste generated, while REBAN actively engaged restaurants and bars to adopt consistent and cleaner waste practices during the festival.
Commenting on the initiative, Gorkha Brewery | Carlsberg Group stated: “Pokhara is one of the most pristine cities in Nepal, loved by tourists and locals alike. This initiative to install waste collection bins reflects our continued commitment to supporting a cleaner festival today and a cleaner Pokhara for the future.”
Beyond the festival, the initiative is designed as a long-term collaboration aimed at strengthening responsible waste management practices, raising public awareness, and supporting sustainable tourism in Pokhara.
This effort reflects Gorkha Brewery | Carlsberg Group’s ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability and community well-being, and sets a strong example for responsible celebrations across Nepal.
