Dharan: Pro Sukra Bahadur Rai, along with his amateur teammates Som Gurung, Purna Limbu, and Awash Bhattarai, claimed the Pro-Am title of the Surya Nepal Eastern Open, the second event under the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2025–26, held at the par-70 Dharan Golf Club on Saturday.

Sukra’s team topped the standings with a total of 158 points. Sukra contributed 37 points, edging ahead of pro Sanjay Lama on countback. Among the amateurs, Som Gurung led with 42 points, followed by Purna Limbu (40) and Awash Bhattarai (39).

The runner-up position went to pro Sanjay Lama and his team of amateurs Lokendra Rai, Diwas Tuladhar, and Man Bahadur Limbu, who finished with 150 points. Sanjay and Man Bahadur scored 37 points each, while Lokendra and Diwas added 38 points apiece.

Finishing third was the team led by pro Bal Bhadra Rai, alongside amateurs Maj Gen Nakul Bahadur Rayamajhi, Siddhant Sapkota, and Basant Rai, with a combined score of 146 points. Bal Bhadra and Basant each scored 36 points, while Nakul and Siddhant earned 37 points each.

In individual honors, Bina Sapkota won the Best Individual Score (Women) award with 30 points. Maj Gen Nakul Bahadur Rayamajhi claimed the Longest Drive award, while Ujjwal Rai secured the Closest to the Pin award.

Nepal Golf Association Vice-President Tilak Rai and President of Koshi Province Golf Association Suyash Pyakurel presented prizes to the winners. The Pro-Am event was contested under the Stableford full handicap format, with participation from 15 professionals and 55 amateur golfers.

Earlier, on Friday, Nepal No. 1 pro Niraj Tamang won the Surya Nepal Eastern Open with an impressive 15-under-par 125. Amateur Rahul Bishwakarma finished second at 9-under 131, while Bal Bhadra Rai secured third place. Dinesh Prajapati finished fourth, and Tanka Bahadur Karki and Bhuvan Nagarkoti shared fifth position.

The tournament carried a total prize purse of Rs. 10,50,000, further strengthening its status as a key event on Nepal’s professional golf calendar.
